1st Phase:

Format:

13 teams, divided into 3 groups of 3 teams each (Groups 1-3) and 1 group of 4 teams (Groups 4) on regional basis.

Each team plays the others from its own group twice - home and away - for a total of 4 games each (6 games each for Group 4 teams), over 6 game weeks.

Players born on or after 1 January 1999 are eligible for participation.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. games won; 3. total goal difference; 4. total goals scored; 5. points in head-to-head matches; 6. goal difference in hth matches; 7. lesser number of red cards received; 8. lesser number of yellow cards received; 9. draw.



Qualification for Final Stages:

1 place of each group: qualify for the Final Stages

2-3 place of Group 4: qualify for the Final Stages

the two best 2nd placed teams of Groups 1-3: qualify for the Final Stages



Tie-breakers for determining the 2nd placed teams ranking:

1. points won; 2. games won; 3. total goal difference; 4. total goals scored; 5. draw.





Final Stages:

Format:

8 teams from the 1st Phase contest the Baiano U20 champion in a knockout format.



Quarter-finals:

8 teams are paired according to their 1st Phase standings:

1st in Group 1 vs 1st in Group 2 (match 1);

3rd in Group 4 vs 1st in Group 3 (match 2);

worst 2nd placed team from Groups 1-3 vs 1st in Group 4 (match 3);

best 2nd placed team from Groups 1-3 vs 2nd in Group 4 (match 4).

Winners are decided over two legs.

The teams with higher 1st Phase placing host the second legs.



Semi-finals:

4 teams are paired as follows:

winner match 1 vs winner match 3;

winner match 2 vs winner match 4.

Winners are decided over two legs.

The teams with better record from all the previous phases combined host the second legs.



3rd Place Final:

The two Semi-finals losers meet each other to contest 3rd place.

Winner is decided over one leg, with penalties if score is level after regular time.

The team with better record from all the previous phases combined hosts the second leg.



Final:

The two Semi-finals winners meet each other with the winner becoming Baiano U20 champion.

Winner is decided over two legs.

The team with better record from all the previous phases combined hosts the second leg.



Tie-breakers for the knockout matches over two legs:

1. aggregate score from the two legs, 2. penalties.
